I want to tell myself "No people for the next month." Instead I'll work on environments, placesurban most definitely. For years I've wished I could draw cityscapes, wished I could catch the chaotic grunge of real life street corners and alleys, the grandeur of massive skyscrapers, the incongruity of a lived-in environment.
It sounds idealistic and I'm not going to achieve the level of skill I want overnight, but I've sorely neglected backgrounds. The focus was always trained on the people, the characters, as perhaps it should have been. However I can't make them better until I give them a world to exist in.
May 21, 2009 EDIT:
xD I failed spectacularly at my "no people" promise. I just can't do it. They need to be drawn. If that means they'll float in empty white voids for a while longer, so be it.

As you have kindly faved my St George and the Dragon Cross design, I ask you to cast your vote for me again between now and June 12th at [link] This is for all the marbles.
The jury will make the final selection for the half-million-dollar commission taking into consideration the public preference, so make sure you have your say!
I very much appreciate your help in achieving this coveted award.
THANK YOU!
